New Pool Construction Process
Building Pools: Tampa-based Swim Smart Explains the Process
Florida pool builders use a variety of methods when constructing custom-built pools, conducting swimming pool renovation or building a pool fountain or an exercise pool / lap swimming pool. At Swim Smart, we understand the importance of communication; we are dedicated to keeping you informed every step of the way. To help you get started, here’s an overview of the pool construction process.
Presite: The construction manager will visit the site to review the pool plans with the actual backyard conditions.
Layout/Dig/Steel: The pool design will be drawn out and dug. Then the framing begins. At this stage you will start to see the shape and design of your pool.
Inspection: The 1st inspection will be done after the steel phase is complete.
Plumbing: The pluming of your pool will now be connected from the pool to your equipment.
Gunite: This is the part of construction where the pool begins to take shape. The concrete is poured into the frame to complete the shell.
Bonding: An electrical bond is done to ground the pool
Inspection: This plumbing, deck and bond inspection is done.
Tile & Coping: The tile and coping are installed on the pool.
Pavers: A footer will be poured to help create your deck. The area is then leveled out and the pavers are set. Sand is brushed into and around the pavers. With all new pavers, excess sand is to be expected. It takes time for the sand to work in and around the pavers.
Screen: If you selected a screen enclosure, it will be installed after the deck is complete.
Child safety: Per law all new construction pools must be protected. You have 3 choices and your selection will be installed at this time.
Equipment install: The equipment you selected will be installed and hooked up at this stage.
Hook up: If you purchased a salt system, it will be installed but the hook up will take after the surface is cured and salt can be added to start up the system.
Electrical hook up: At this phase we will need to have access to your garage/ main electrical panel. All lines will be installed from the main panel to your pool equipment.
Pool Prep: Your pool will now be prepared for the interior finish application.
Quartz / Pebble: The selected pool finish will be applied. Once the finish is on it will have an acid wash and the pool will be filled with water. In addition, the surface will need to be brushed down several times a day for the next 30 days. This will allow for the curing of the interior finish.
Start Up: After the pool is filled all necessary chemicals will be added. If you purchased a salt purification system, it will not be hooked up until 3-4 weeks after the pool is full. This is recommended because the pool surface need to cure before the salt is added. After the appropriate time has passed we will come out and turn on your salt system and salt will be added to the pool.
Walk Thru: After completion of the pool, a full walk thru and review of all equipment will take place. We thank you for giving Swim Smart Pools and Spas the opportunity to build your swimming pool. We hope that you had a great experience. Our biggest compliment is when our customers refer us to their friends and family.
