What’s the difference between a chlorine swimming pool and a salt chlorinated pool?
A salt chlorinated pool is an alternative way to sanitize your pool instead of using bottled or tablet chlorine chemicals. However, a salt chlorinated pool still contains chlorine. With a salt water chlorination system, you use a chlorine generator, an electrical device that uses salt added to the water to manufacture chlorine. Using a salt water system will not make your pool salty, as only a minimum amount of saline is used to generate chlorine.
The benefits of using Chlorine generators vs. liquid chlorine or tablets:
-Swimming pools with salt systems are less likely to irritate or dry your skin.
-Salt Chlorinated pools are less likely to cause red, irritated or burning eyes.
-It’s a lower, more consistent level of chlorine, which keeps the pool cleaner, with less maintenance over time.
-Saltwater chlorinators can be used with all types of pools including in ground and above ground pools. Above ground pool units are generally smaller and less expensive.
-While a Saltwater system is initially more expensive to install and set up, but over time costs less since it reduces the need to purchase pool chemicals.
